Cortadito lanzará su nuevo sencillo y video “Guajira En La Madrugada” junto a Aymée Nuviola el 25 de julio

La cantante cubana grabó una carta de amor a la Perla de las Antillas, es el segundo tema del álbum escrito por el fallecido Alberto Pantaleón Hernández.

 Miami, FL – July 16, 2025 – Cortadito, los principales embajadores de la música folclórica cubana en Miami, lanzarán el 25 de julio el tercer sencillo de su nuevo álbum, Guajiro Triangle, titulado “Guajira En La Madrugada “. Escrito por Alberto Pantaleón Hernández, padre del bajista Alberto Pantaleón, el sencillo es el segundo del fallecido compositor cubano e incluye la participación vocal de la poderosa voz habanera Aymée Nuviola.

“Guajira” fue grabada por Guillermo Rodríguez Bravo y por el cofundador de la banda y tresero José Elías, y mezclada por Carlos “El Loco” Bedoya (Beyoncé, Enrique Iglesias). El tema es un son sublime y tropical, impulsado por la aterciopelada voz de Nuviola y la firme trompeta de Roniel Vega. Pantaleón y el percusionista Pacha Portuondo aportan una sólida base rítmica sobre la cual el tres de Elías y el arreglo de Franklin Reytor se deslizan suavemente bajo el coro “guajira, te quiero cantar mi tonada”.

“Grabar esta canción ha sido una de esas experiencias que una atesora profundamente,” dice Nuviola. “No solo por el nivel artístico, el respeto con el que tocan cada nota y la autenticidad que traen a la música cubana tradicional. Para mí fue un privilegio poner mi granito de arena en un proyecto que no solo honra nuestro pasado, sino que le da vida a nuestra herencia musical para las nuevas generaciones.”

“La Sonera del Mundo” Aymée Regla Nuviola Suárez es una cantante, pianista, compositora y actriz cubana. Ganadora de un GRAMMY Latino y un GRAMMY, comenzó su carrera musical desde muy temprana edad, tocando el piano a los tres años y recibiendo formación clásica en el Conservatorio Manuel Saumell. Nacida en una familia de músicos en La Habana, Nuviola es reconocida por su trabajo en el jazz cubano contemporáneo y la timba, un género bailable de fusión que ella ayudó a impulsar. También ha grabado con íconos cubanos como NG La Banda, Irakere y Gonzalo Rubalcaba, y ha lanzado cinco álbumes de timba, incluido su más reciente, Bonche.

“Aymée es una gran amiga y ha colaborado con la banda durante algunos años. Siempre disfrutamos la oportunidad de trabajar con ella,” comenta Elías. “Me alegra que haya prestado su magnífica voz para esta canción, y esperamos compartir el video con nuestros seguidores. El video fue grabado por Adrián González (Oigovision) y editado por Elías. También se estrenará el 25 de julio a través del canal de YouTube de la banda.

Los dos primeros sencillos del álbum, “A Yemayá” (con Néstor Torres) y “Aquí Te Traigo Mi Son“, han tenido una excelente acogida tanto de la crítica como de los fans, consiguiendo nuevos seguidores y miles de visualizaciones y reproducciones. La banda apareció recientemente en el podcast Alt Latino de NPR y está ganando popularidad en varios mercados extranjeros como México, Colombia, Francia y España.

Cortadito se prepara para una gira regional por la costa este de Estados Unidos, que incluirá paradas en Nueva York, Carolina del Norte, Virginia Occidental, Florida y más por anunciar.

Cortadito to release new “Guajira En La Madrugada” single and video featuring Aymée Nuviola July 25

Cuban chanteuse recorded a love letter to the Pearl of the Antilles, is the second album track penned by the late Alberto Pantaleon Hernandez

Miami, FL – July 11, 2025 –  Miami’s premier Cuban folk music ambassadors Cortadito will release a third track off their new full-length release Guajiro Triangle on July 25 titled “Guajira En La Madrugada“. Written by bassist Alberto Pantaleon’s father Alberto Pantaleon Hernandez, the single is the second penned by late Cuban composer and features guest vocals by the Havana powerhouse Aymée Nuviola.

“Guajira” was recorded by Guillermo Rodriguez Bravo, and band co-founder and tresero Jose Elias, and mixed by Carlos “El Loco” Bedoya (Beyoncé), Enrique Iglesias). The track is a sublimely tropical Son carried by Nuviola’s velvety vocal and Roniel Vega’s steely trumpet. Pantaleon and percussionist Pacha Portundo provide a solid rhythmic bed over which Elias’ tres, and Franklin Reytor‘s arrangement smoothly glide under the “guajira, te quiero cantar mi tonada” coro. 

“Recording this song has been one of those experiences that one treasures profoundly,” says Nuviola. “Not just because of the level of artistry, the respect with which they play each note, and the authenticity they bring to their traditional Cuban music. For me, it was a privilege to put my little bit into a project that doesn’t just honor our past but gives life to our musical inheritance for the new generation.”

“La Sonera del Mundo” Aymée Regla Nuviola Suárez is a Cuban singer, pianist, composer, and actress. She’s a Latin GRAMMY and GRAMMY winner who started her musical journey early, playing piano at age three and receiving classical training at the Manuel Saumell Conservatory. Born into a musical family in Havana, Nuviola is celebrated for her work in Cuban contemporary jazz and timba, a dance-inspired fusion genre she helped pioneer. She has also recorded with Cuban icons like NG La Banda, Irakere, and Gonzalo Rubalcaba, and has released five timba albums, including her latest, Bonche.

“Aymeé is a great friend and has collaborated with the band for a few years. We always revel in the chance to work with her,” says Elias. “I’m delighted that she lent her superb vocals to this song, and we look forward to sharing the video with our fans. The accompanying video was shot by Adrian Gonzalez (Oigovision) and edited by Elias. It will also be released on July 25 through the band’s YouTube Channel. 

The first two album singles “A Yemayá” (with Nestor Torres) and “Aqui Te Traigo Me Son” have been well received by critics and fans alike, amassing new followers and thousands of views and streams. The band was recently featured on NPR‘s Alt Latino podcast, and is gaining momentum in various foreign markets like Mexico, Colombia, France, and Spain.

Cortadito is getting ready for a regional east coast tour of various states, including New York, North Carolina, West Virginia, Florida, and more to be announced.
