Jim Camacho’s New Single “Going on Faith” Urges Optimism

Celebrated songwriter’s new release inspires hope during today’s troubled times

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Miami, Florida – June 12, 2020 – If ever there was a time when faith was sorely needed, it must be right now. Caught in the merciless grasp of the global chaos and hopelessness which finds the world turned upside down, and thrust into the unyielding grip of a new reality, faith is one of the few commodities worth clinging to. Acclaimed singer / songwriter Jim Camacho hopes to spread the sentiment with his new single “Going on Faith”, which is streaming now on all platforms.

“It wasn’t written with all this in mind, and in fact, wasn’t originally intended to be released at all,” says Camacho. “Respected Nashville songwriter Kris Bergness and I found ourselves in a writing room together. We were both there writing for our publishers…just to write…to roll the dice,” Camacho recalls. “We thought maybe we could collaborate on some songs that could possibly be used for film or television, or by artists who might potentially be looking for material. However, after we finished it, I felt really attached to it and wanted to release it myself.”

Produced by John Carter Cash at the legendary Cash Cabin studios, the song speaks to a need so many people are experiencing at this point in time. Indeed, the lyric effectively sums up the sentiments accompanying this unexpected transition brought on by the crisis, as well as a desire to keep optimism intact, even though the odds may say otherwise.

I’m going on faith

Without fear

Love’s the reason

Why we’re here

Sooner or later

It all falls into place

So I keep going going going

Going on faith

The melody suits the sentiment. An anthemic ballad, it finds Camacho’s emphatic, emotional vocal adding an extra depth to the urgency and intensity that the lyrics so effectively share. A track that conveys both the desperation and desire that the world’s facing in these troubling times, it also reflects both the passion and purpose that’s always informed Camacho’s music. This is the first of an ongoing series of singles Camacho has planned for the months ahead, leading up to a full-length album to be released in 2021.

So too, while Camacho continues to share his songs with other artists as well, his own efforts continue to flourish. “I’m interested in making music that will last and remain vital going forward,” Camacho insists. “For me, music has to be indelible to be effective, songs that will still resonate with the passage of time. That’s the goal and the challenge, and that’s what always makes me show up at the blank page.”

ABOUT JIM CAMACHO

Naturally, Camacho is no stranger when it comes to making music that resonates through melody and meaning. A veritable renaissance man in the surest sense, he is not only a respected songwriter, musician and producer, but also a playwright, actor and musical theater composer. As co-founder (with his brother John) of the legendary Miami band The Goods, he attracted national attention through a series of albums that allowed the band to work with legendary producer Tom Dowd, sharing stages with the likes of Pearl Jam, The Smithereens, Cracker and Matthew Sweet, and reaping any number of accolades in the process.

Since then, Camacho’s enjoyed a prolific solo career that has included several memorable albums, EPs, and singles. In addition, his music is featured in films, documentaries and television soundtracks, and high profile live performances that have taken many number of prestigious musical venues, including the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, New York’s Radio City Music Hall and the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles. He’s played the West Coast and the U.K. and has also had the distinction of touring with Alicia Keys, John Legend, Linda Perhacs, and Zascha Moktan, for which he served as musical director.

Even so, Camacho’s efforts don’t stop there. His theatrical creations have included such well-received original productions as Fools’ Paradise, Guru, MOUSE KING, The Cavie Islanders and the Troll, Mickey Herman Saves the $#&@ World, and, most recently, Cranky Carl – all critically acclaimed musicals that found him producing, directing, writing the book, and composing the songs.

Indeed, Camacho’s prolific prowess extends to spotlighting other artists as well. His YouTube series Adventures in Songwriting, initiated last year, finds him working with a series of special guests and then writing a song in tandem within the program’s 30-minute timeframe. The songs were released as an EP that included collaborations between Camacho and such seminal South Florida talents as Fernando Perdomo, Charlie Pickett, Elsten Torres, Rob Elba, and the bands Ex Norwegian and Deaf Poets. The Miami Herald’s Howard Cohen said of the special release show: “Good fun and a testament to the power of inspired songwriting.”
