MEDIA ALERT
Awarding winning Cuban folk group to be joined by Albita, Lazaro Galarraga, Nestor Torres, DJ Le Spam, and many more
Miami, FL – April 10, 2025 – The award-winning Cuban folk group Cortadito will celebrate the official release of their new full length The Guajiro Triangle on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at the Miami Beach Bandshell with a special star-studded event. The first-ever Son Del Mundo concert, set to time perfectly with the International Dia Del Son Cubano (May 8), as well as the release of the band’s full-length release, will feature performances by the band along with special guests Albita, Lazaro Galarraga, Nestor Torres, Michelle Fragoso, Miamibloco, Grupo Barrio Abajo, Lula Rios, and selections by DJ Le Spam.
The Guajiro Triangle refers to the convergence of the three cities that ultimately influenced Cortadito’s musical ethos, and from where the band members all collectively hail: Miami, Havana, and Santiago de Cuba. Powerful tracks like the first single “A Yemayá” featuring legendary Latin GRAMMY-winning flutist Torres, second single “Aquí Te Traigo Mi Son“, a heartfelt homage featuring world-class Cuban pianist and composer Fragoso, and “Guajira en la Madrugada“, a Bolero Son collaboration with the GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY award-winning singer Aymeé Nuviola, all honor their Cuban heritage.
The album was produced by band co-founder Jose Elias, mixed by Carlos “El Loco” Bedoya (Beyoncé, Mick Jagger, Enrique Iglesias), Guillermo Rodriguez, and Kiki Valera, and mastered by Jose Blanco (Natalia Lafourcade, Grupo Niche, Aerosmith).
The Guajiro Triangle utilized the big band format of the group, featuring a septet recording lineup including Elias, cofounder Julio Cesar Rodriguez, Alberto Pantaleon, Humberto Upierre, Antonio “Pacha” Portuondo and Andres Polanco on percussion, and Roniel Vega (trumpet), which is augmented by band regulars Franklin Reytor (guitar, tres, vocals, arranger), and Tony Perigo Viant (trumpet).
All ages are welcome to the concert, and doors open at 6 p.m. that day. Click here for tickets and more details.
