United Dialysis Center Provides Transportation and Delivery Services

Clinic strives to assure patients are able to travel to and from the site and receive proper medication

Pompano Beach, FL – May 17, 2016 – Realizing that transportation is a real issue keeping some patients from receiving the quality care they need and deserve, United Dialysis Center has spared no expense in making it easier for locals to commute to its Pompano Beach location for treatment, and return home once complete. In addition, the new facility offers delivery and pharmacy services for patients, making it even more convenient to receive treatment for kidney disease.

“Our commitment to providing state-of-the-art technology does not end at our facilities, but extends to our transportation services as well,” says Facility Manager Betty Jean Verbal. “We continuously strive to provide our patients the best possible care, and that includes ensuring that they arrive to their appointments safely and on time, having a means to return home, as well as having the medication they need to continue their care while not at the clinic.”

United Dialysis transports all patients in 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter cargo vans, one of the best in its class for comfort, luxury and safety. This diesel model is a Super Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) that produces up to 90% fewer emissions than equivalent gasoline-powered vehicles. Not only does the clinic care about the well-being of its patients, but it also shows regard for the environment.

United Dialysis’ sister company United Pharmacy owns two 2016 BWM I3s, which are easily identifiable by their branded “United Pharmacy” vehicle wraps. This multiple award-winning, environmentally-friendly model again demonstrates the clinic’s environmental sensitivities. The model is known for its electronic efficiency and (150 miles total range per charge), and an interior made from more than 25% renewable raw and recycled materials.

An on-site pharmacy adds to the convenience offered to kidney dialysis patients, filling prescriptions in minutes and also allowing clinic staff to deliver the medication to patients if necessary. Transportation and delivery services are provided for patients who live as far north as the city of Boynton Beach and as far south as the Greater Fort Lauderdale area.

Jazid Celebrates 20 Years of Live Music June 11

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jazid Celebrates 20 Years of Live Music with Jahfe and Inna Sense June 11

Miami Beach’s longest tenured night club celebrates two decades of live music during one special night

Miami, FL – May 3, 2016 – For 20 years, Jazid (1342 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33139) has truly been “all about the music.” From their beginnings in 1996 as a jazz club featuring Bobby Stringer and MichelleMcCloud, to the early 2000s residency by the Spam Allstars, to Wednesdays featuring Locos Por Juana (2007-2012), to Suenalo Saturdays 2004 – 2012, to the Reggae Sundays currently dominated by Jahfe and Inna Sense (both of whom will help the club celebrate 20 years). On Saturday, June 11, 2016, Jazid will be celebrating two decades of live music by hosting two of the area’s most irie reggae bands. Music begins at 11 p.m., cover is $10 and 21 and over are welcome.

In looking back on his time as owner, Daniel Wohlstein offers: “My favorite performance was Suenalo March 4, 2006, the very day after I bought the club. I was so happy and I had such a good time and remember I sitting in the middle of the dance area my business partner Carlos Rojas, and club was simply packed up to the stairs. The little club that could has endured and persevered.” Wohlstein bought the club from founders Chezare Mazoli and MichelleMcKinnon.

Co-owner Tony Alarcon offers: “I see Jazid as a Mecca for musicians and DJs from all genres and cultures. It is basically the CBGB’s of Miami, a culture in and of itself, an ecosystem of sorts. It is a real place for real people in a town glittered with pretentious and capitalistic aspirations. Jazid has withstood the test of time and will continue to do so for many years to come.”

A duo comprised of Sha Shanon and Esther Fortune, Jahfe is an international powerhouse pop-roots-rock-reggae band whose rising popularity and following is due to their take charge attitude and uncompromising conscious message. Jahfé dedicates its voice to speaking out against the injustices that plague the world today, and have been featured in documentaries about domestic violence, and worked to increase awareness about the Darfur genocide, the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, and many of the other untold stories of injustice in the world. They released a new 420 single April 20th called “Ganja Luv”, which is streaming from their website at jahfemusic.com.

The brainchild of vocalist Jimi Dred, Inna Sense has built a solid music career around a riveting stage show with a repertoire of captivating original songs. With the highly anticipated release of “Everything Included”, the group is ready to take the world by storm. They have been delivering high energy shows to loyal fans across the United States, from California to Miami, Hawaii, the Caribbean and even in the royal halls of Monaco. The music delivers a rootsy, heart-thumping groove that is impossible not to dance to, and their members have worked with well-known artists like Julian Lennon, Kymani Marley,Blues Traveler, Inner Circle, Maxi Priest and others. For more information, visit innasense.com.

Some of the club’s notable past honors include “Best Small Music Venue” and “Best Reggae Night” by the Miami New Times, “Best Live Music of South Florida” by AOL City Guide and “Mejor Musica en Vivo en La Playa” by OceanDrive en Espaňol. Notably, Quiet Riot played Jazid at some point during the last two decades. Some of the more high-profile visits have been by JamesHetfield from Metallica, Shakira, Ricky Martin and Fito Paez.

Perhaps the most notorious visit and performance was from none other than the late, great Prince. In 2008, the Purple One dropped by and sat in with Xperimento on a Wednesday, then with Suenalo the very next Saturday; a photo of the Suenalo session has been circulating in the media recently.

DJ’s for the evening of June 11 are Lance-O (Kulchashok), Swaggah (NYC), and Vendetta (MIA). For more information, visit www.jazid.net or call 305.673.9372.

Camacho & Elba Issue Split Single 5/20 at Gramps

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jim Camacho and Rob Elba Issue a Virtual Split 7” Single May 20, Celebrate at Gramps

Singer-songwriters each performed and recorded a song written by the other, celebrate their release with a special mashup performance at Gramps in Wynwood

Miami, FL – May 3, 2016 – Two of Miami’s premier singer-songwriters, Jim Camacho (The Goods) and Rob Elba (The Holy Terrors, Shark Valley Sisters) long associated through friendship and prominence in the South Florida music scene, have joined musical forces to release a split single of original material. Recorded at Dan Hosker Studio in Miami Beach by another scene heavy, FrankRat BastardFalestra, the new release features an Elba song performed by Camacho called “Messenger” and one penned by Camacho and sung by Elba, “Ugly”.

The two tracks will be available for download and streaming. The release will be celebrated with a special evening of live music at Gramps (176 NW 24th St, Miami, FL 33127-4414), on Friday, May 20, 2016, a night which will feature performances by all three (Camacho, Elba and Falestra), plus a set by Mr. Entertainment and the Pookiesmackers. Doors open at 9 p.m., music begins at 10 p.m., and the cover is $5. 21 and over are welcome.

“Although, I’ve played countless shows with Rob over the years, I’ve always wanted to work with him in the studio,” says Camacho. “This project was the perfect opportunity for it, the timing was right, and I’m truly looking forward to sharing both the song and the video with everyone.” Shot at the two artists’ musical stomping and proving grounds Churchill’s Pub in Little Haiti, the videos, featuring cameo appearances by club founder Dave Daniels, are being produced and edited by Juan Davila from 2 Way Creative, Camacho’s long-time associate.

Elba offers: “So I have known Jim for over 25 years, and for the past 10 or so we have been threatening to collaborate on something. We decided to record the two songs with Rat because we knew he wouldn’t let us get too precious with them. You have to have a fairly good amount of confidence to record with Rat, because he will either tell you something sucks or not say anything at all – which can either mean he loves it or he’s just completely given up on you. He’s either a genius producer or a complete dick…most likely a combination of the two.”

The pair will appear on Shake 108 FM’s “Local Love” show Wednesday, May 18, 2016 to promote the singles and the event, performing live and speaking with host Aimee Beah Moore. Listeners can tune in to 107.9 FM locally or on the web at www.Shake108.com outside the 305.

For more information, visit www.JimCamacho.com or call Gramps at 305.699.2669.

ABOUT GUANABANAS

Guanabanas is dedicated to providing each guest with a truly unique outdoor dining experience. We have designed our company and our restaurant in an unorthodox way to help achieve the high standards we have set for ourselves in the disciplines of service, food, atmosphere/ambiance, waterfront location, landscape design, outdoor temperature control and the overall sensory experience.

We feel it is necessary to provide a true “Florida” experience with our creative outdoor restaurant design which utilizes quality exotic/local plants and trees, Key West/Old Florida styled structures, hand-built cheeky huts from the native Indian tribes of Florida, fresh Florida seafood and a premium bar with a national live music calendar.

Giving back to the community is such a focal point for our company’s mission that we developed a monthly event we have termed “Give Back Thursdays” to help feed the need of our community organizations. With our “Give Back Thursdays” event we have partnered with some fantastic companies to help drive donations where money is badly needed, as well as giving away our stage space to allow the charities to showcase their cause.

Guanabanas helps support many local charities, such as the Surfrider Foundation, Pink Purses, Martin Memorial Hospital, Haiti Relief Effort, Freedom Flight for WWII Vets by the Martin County Firefighters, Jupiter High Surf Team, Friends of Jupiter Beach, Vita Nova House, and many others.

“The Show Me Show” Kickstarter Campaign

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Noel MacNeal’s The Show Me Show for Kids with Autism Launches Kickstarter Campaign

Fundraiser needs $55K by May 17 in order to begin production of interactive web series

Brooklyn, NY – April 19, 2016 – Professional puppeteer and Muppets performer Noel MacNeal (Bear of Disney’s Bear in the Big Blue House and Magellan the Dragon from Nick Jr.’s Eureeka’s Castle) has launched a crowdsourcing campaign for his latest project, “The Show Me Show”, an online series for kids with autism and special needs. This live action educational series will be available for viewers to download and then “choose” which version of the show they would like to help the characters (and Noel) create. Those interested in making a tax-deductible contribution and learning more about the benefits of donating can do so at http://kck.st/1NzHXY2.

The show, produced by MacNeal’s non-profit company Elephant Shoes, Inc., presents early science and math concepts such as counting to three to dance the waltz, or using simple engineering, like using a ramp to get a prop on stage. It will also help autistic and special needs kids recognize and work through everyday social and emotional situations; for example, meeting people, playing together, handling changes / transitions, recognizing emotional reactions in others and in themselves, etc.

Apart from host MacNeal, the show will feature three main puppet characters. Fynnias is a five-year-old with an endless amount of energy and eagerness. He loves to pretend, has a winning smile, expressive eyes and a wild imagination for creating stories and plays. Older sister Taylor is a bright and gifted eight-year-old girl with a quick wit who knows she wants to be a professional singer when she grows up. Nona is the mature, “invented” yak that Noel created from assorted this-and-that items on hand; she is the host’s best friend and confidante, and often, dance partner.

At the start of each show, the day’s “guest star” is revealed – a sound (e.g. “laughter”), a color (e.g. “blue”), a number (e.g. “three”), or a shape (e.g. “circle” or the “human hand”). Two characters will have an idea on what kind of show to do. The viewer will be asked to choose who they want help create the show, then the show proceeds in that direction. Because all episodes are downloadable, viewers can go back and pick the alternate choice to see the same show go in the other direction. Thus, each episode is two shows in one, reminiscent of the popular Choose Your Own Adventure books written by Edward Packard beginning in the 1970s.

The perks for donating to the fundraiser include everything from social media shout outs from Noel and Fynnias, to the musical soundtrack to the show featuring music composed by award-winning singer-songwriter Jim Camacho; autographed photos of MacNeal with the now classic and iconic characters he helped bring to life for children’s television; Skype chats and tours of the set; a personalized puppet to be used on the show, then sent to the owner, and more.

For more information about the program, visit www.theshowmeshow.com.

“Piquete Sessions” Salute the 60s at Ball & Chain 4/26

MEDIA ALERT

Electric Piquete Salute the 60s during “Piquete Sessions” Night at Ball & Chain 4/26

Miami, FL – April 12, 2016 – Miami’s premiere live music venue Ball & Chainis will again host one of the area’s best Latin funk bands Electric Piquete during a monthly series now known as “Piquete Sessions“. Electric Piquete is probably best known for its fiery originals and inventive interpretations of Latin and jazz standards. A unique and “very Miami” venue, Ball & Chain has been often profiled in local and national press in the two years since re-opening, most recently in a New York Times feature about Little Havana. Originally dedicated in 1935 as the Ball & Chain Saloon, the spot hosted musical luminaries such as Count Basie,Chet Atkins and Billie Holiday. There is a daily happy hour, weekly salsa night, and the venue is available for private parties and events.

Miami, FL – April 6, 2016 – Fresh on the heels of launching a campaign to donate proceeds from the online sale of new single “Make It to the Morning Light”, Miami singer-songwriter Jim Camacho will now perform a full band concert at Luna Star Café (775 NE 125th St, North Miami, Florida 33161) on Friday, April 15, 2016, beginning at 8 p.m. Camacho will similarly split the take at the door equally between Switchboard of Miami and Paws 4 You. Admission is $10 – the establishment is cash-only – and special guest Karen Feldner will open the evening. All ages are welcome; for more information about the venue, visit www.LunaStarCafe.com or call 305.799.7123.

The new release itself, inspired by the incredible natural visuals surrounding the Rock Lodge at Giant’s Castle in South Africa, as well as Jim’s interaction with the friendly locals, and in particular, the video, directed by Juan Davila from2WayCreative, carries a powerful life-affirming and pet-friendly message. The track features drums and percussion by Jason Hann (String Cheese Incident/ EOTO), guitars and organ by Fernando Perdomo (Jakob DylanEmitt Rhodes), background vocals by brother John Camacho, and vocals and multi-instrumentation by Jim Camacho (bass, acoustic guitar, toy piano).

Shot in South Miami and in the historic MiMo District of Miami, the visual narrative follows the desperate plight of a young woman played by Michelle Grand (Ex-Norwegian), an abusive dog owner (Camacho’s friend and frequent collaborator Alex Porro) and the positive, even life-saving effects that our four-legged friends can have on people. View the video, produced by Annie Fernandez, on the artist’s YouTube page: https://youtu.be/vAWY7EoGeMU.

Camacho recently toured the U.K. to promote the new single. Among the appearances: a guest spot on the Tony Moore’s Musical Emporiumbroadcast on SoHo Radio and a solo performance at The Bedford Live.  Switchboard and Paws4You are both registered 501(c)3 non-profit organizations, the former well-known in the community for expertise in the field of suicide prevention, the latter, a volunteer-run pet rescue with a mission of saving animals from euthanasia and re-homing abandoned pets, from which Jim has adopted a pet in the recent past.

The Miami Beach native Feldner, a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist herself, is known for performing as a solo acoustic act and on electric guitar with a backing band. Her latest release “Life” is available on iTunes.
