Guanabanas’ Latin Music Night Continues March 12 with Electric Piquete
Jupiter, FL – March 2, 2016 – Guanabanas’ monthly Latin Music Night will feature the return of Electric Piquete on Saturday, March 12, 2016, beginning at 9 p.m. The water-front venue is located at 960 North Highway A1A, Jupiter, FL 33477, and the event is free and open to those 21 and over. The Miami-based Latin funk band is celebrating co-founder and bassist / vocalist Michael Mut’s birthday that night.
Electric Piquete, twice named Miami New Times’ “Best Latin Band” (2009 and 2015), is probably best known for its fiery originals and inventive interpretations of Latin and jazz standards. A powerfully-tight drums / bass / guitar / keys / congas rhythm section sets the groove for a fiery horn section, taking listeners on an Afro-Caribbean journey of sound. In addition to Mut, the band also features drummer / vocalist Ed Rosado, Chris Correoso on guitar, Rich Dixon on trumpet and flugelhorn, Raymond Ayala on percussion and vocals, and Damian J. Sanchez on tenor sax and flute.
Inspired by South Florida’s musical and cultural diversity, Guanabanas’ Talent Buyer Matt Cahur conceived the Latin night series in October of 2015, and launched it just after Hispanic Heritage Month. The night has already showcased some of Miami’s top Latin bands, including Spam Allstars, Suenalo (who are scheduled for a return date April 30), Lanzallamas, and others, and will also feature Latin roots rock by Moska Project March 25 and the Cuban son songstress Danay Suarez April 9.
Guanabanas is an open-air restaurant and bar with woven tiki huts and banyan trees towering overhead and hand-chiseled coquina stone pathways underfoot. A full, sumptuous dinner menu is available, as is a full-liquor beverage selection.
