4th annual event presented by Roots Music, Inc. and Islamorada Beer company to feature local and nationally-touring acts
Jupiter, FL – September 20, 2016 – The federally-designated “Wild and Scenic” Loxahatchee River flowing through Jupiter is home to cypress swamp, freshwater marshes, mangrove swamp, countless bird, plant and fish species, and an annual reggae festival. On Sunday, October 9, 2016, beginning at 1 p.m., Guanabanas Island Restaurant and Bar (960 North Highway A1A, Jupiter, FL 33477), located right on the Jupiter Inlet portion of the river, will host eight reggae / roots acts, and renown reggae music DJ and host Kulcha Shok. The show is free and open to all-ages.
The acts schedule to appear include: Through the Roots, Josh Heinrichs, Tropidelic, the Bryce Allyn Band, Sun–Dried Vibes, The Helmsmen, RootsShakedown, and Casey Turner. Guanabanas regularly presents a number of these acts throughout the year, but never all on the same bill. “This year promises to be our biggest and best Dirty River Reggae Fest yet,” says Guanabanas’ Talent Buyer Matt Cahur. “I’m proud of the lineup we’ve managed to assemble for reggae and roots music fans, and am looking forward to the show.”
Through the Roots are from San Diego and are currently in the midst of their “Bloodshot Eyes” tour supporting a 2015 EP release titled Stipped and Exposed, along with the 2016 single “Miss Lovely”. They previously released three EPs, one full-length called Take You There and numerous singles, including a 2012 collaboration with the legendary Jamaican rhythm section / production team Sly & Robbie, “Weekend Remix”. Josh Heinrichs’ latest release “Good Vibes” enjoyed a smashing debut, simultaneously charting at # 1 on the iTunes, Amazon.com and Billboard Reggae charts. The Springfield, MO native, pure reggae music artist – a Guanabanas favorite – frequently tours the U.S. with his four-piece band, this fall focusing on Florida, Texas and California. Tropidelic is another well-travelled, out-of-state act. Hailing from the East Side of Cleveland, OH, the funk / reggae / rock / hip-hop sextet is promoting their latest release called “Go Down with the Ship” during their “Smashing Cities” tour. Locals the Bryce Allyn Band and their namesake front man frequently play Guanabanas, and every time they do, the audience cannot get enough of them. Their brand of conscious music has struck a chord with audiences throughout South Florida, as their profiles rise ever higher. Fort Mill, South Carolina’s Sun Dried Vibes is a power reggae / rock / funk / pop / alternative trio. They offer a fresh twist to the reggae/rock genre with high-energy live performances that crank out infectious sing-a-longs laced with a positive message. Jupiter natives The Helmsmen’s island indie vibe travels throughout South and Central Florida extremely well. The crew, managed by event co-hosts Roots Music, formed in 2012 and solidified their current lineup in 2014, which released the Midterm EP this year, featuring the single and video “Rollercoaster”. Roots Shakedown is another West Palm Beach-based act featuring front man and sometime solo artist Brett Staska. They traffic in roots, rock, reggae, dub and indie, and since forming in 2009, have been featured in most major college towns and festivals throughout the Sunshine State. Included on the 2011 Reggae Wave Project, and a 2015 Sugarshack Sessions recording, they are currently working a full-length release. www.rootsshakedown.com.
Casey Turner’s No Stress Express recording is an upbeat mix of acoustic rock with an island vibe has all the makings of a perfect summer day. He also hails from San Diego, CA and plays the ukulele.
