Electric Piquete at Guanabanas’ Latin Music Night 3/12

MEDIA ALERT

Guanabanas’ Latin Music Night Continues March 12 with Electric Piquete

Jupiter, FL – March 2, 2016 – Guanabanas’ monthly Latin Music Night will feature the return of Electric Piquete on Saturday, March 12, 2016, beginning at 9 p.m.  The water-front venue is located at 960 North Highway A1A, Jupiter, FL 33477, and the event is free and open to those 21 and over.  The Miami-based Latin funk band is celebrating co-founder and bassist / vocalist Michael Mut’s birthday that night.

Electric Piquete, twice named Miami New Times’ “Best Latin Band” (2009 and 2015), is probably best known for its fiery originals and inventive interpretations of Latin and jazz standards. A powerfully-tight drums / bass / guitar / keys / congas rhythm section sets the groove for a fiery horn section, taking listeners on an Afro-Caribbean journey of sound. In addition to Mut, the band also features drummer / vocalist Ed Rosado, Chris Correoso on guitar, Rich Dixon on trumpet and flugelhorn, Raymond Ayala on percussion and vocals, and Damian J. Sanchez on tenor sax and flute.

Inspired by South Florida’s musical and cultural diversity,  Guanabanas’ Talent Buyer Matt Cahur conceived the Latin night series in October of 2015, and launched it just after Hispanic Heritage Month. The night has already showcased some of Miami’s top Latin bands, including Spam Allstars, Suenalo (who are scheduled for a return date April 30), Lanzallamas, and others, and will also feature Latin roots rock by Moska Project March 25 and the Cuban son songstress Danay Suarez April 9.

Guanabanas is an open-air restaurant and bar with woven tiki huts and banyan trees towering overhead and hand-chiseled coquina stone pathways underfoot. A full, sumptuous dinner menu is available, as is a full-liquor beverage selection.

For more details about the band, navigate to www.ElectricPiquete.com. For more information about the venue, please visit www.Guanabanas.com or call 561.747.8878.

The Baboons Invade Hollywood ArtsPark

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Baboons Invade Hollywood ArtsPark January 2nd

Miami’s percussive primates announce free, all-ages show beginning at 8 p.m.

Miami, FL – December 8, 2016The Baboons, Miami’s joyfully genre-smashing ‘Afro-Cuban funk ‘n’ roll’ pioneers, will kick off 2016 with a free all-ages concert at the Hollywood ArtsPark (1 N Young Circle, Hollywood, FL 33020) on Saturday, January 2, 8 – 9:30 p.m. as part of the ArtsPark Live concert series.

The Baboons’ first show of 2016 marks the wildly eclectic ensemble’s return to the beautiful Hollywood ArtsPark in Downtown Hollywood for the first time since 2014. The band will be featuring new songs from its forthcoming 3rd full-length release, Spanglish as well as newer songs never before heard north of the Miami-Dade/Broward border. The music starts promptly at 8 p.m.

The Baboons draw inspiration from the mix of worldly influences found on the streets and beaches of their hometown. Throughout the years, musicians with diverse backgrounds have added to the band’s palette, evolving into a rich global fusion that combines Latin American, Caribbean, African, Middle Eastern and American roots influences.

The seven-piece outfit features sultry singer Majica on lead vocals and founder Mano Pila on drums and vocals (the two also host the “Global Gumbo with Majica & Mano P.” radio show Sundays on WDNA, 4-6 p.m.), Miguel Rega on percussion, Ike Blues on guitar and vocals, Andre Cama on bass, and Dominick Cama and Paul Messina on saxophones and flutes.

““We are thrilled to return to one of South Florida’s coolest and most historic venues,” said Majica. “Young Circle has hosted concerts since the 1920s, and The Baboons have been playing in this iconic community meeting place for two decades, since long before it was reborn as the ArtsPark, and it is always a pleasure to return to the scene of so many memorable events throughout the years.”

The Baboons have been South Florida fixtures for more than 22 years. Born at an In-Progress Art Festival at the now-defunct Ft. Lauderdale nightspot Squeeze on July 2, 1993, the amorphous early ensembles featured a rotating line-up of local musicians eager to explore the band’s culturally curious aesthetic. Throughout the years, the band has shared the bill with Jimmy Buffet, George Clinton’s P-Funk All-Stars, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band and The Radiators.

Since their inception, the group has received many honors, including a Florida Jammy Award for Best Worldbeat Band. The Baboons have released two full-length recordings – the award-winning Evolution, honored by New Times Miami as the “Best Album Of The Past Twelve Months” in 2000, and the critically acclaimed follow-up Global Gumbo in 2001. The band is currently working on the 15-track recording Spanglish at Miami’s Red Door Studio.

Dogs Go Walking “Adopted”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Ownership Group “Adopts” Dogs Go Walking

Tri-county area dog walking and boarding service plans aggressive expansion and help fund ASPCA

Miami Beach, FL – September 22, 2015 – With Americans set to spend nearly $60 billon on their pets this year and a chance to spend more time near home, new owner Daniel Wohlstein’s decision to purchase Dogs Go Walking was an easy one. The home-based company founded in 2004 offers services such as pet walking and sitting, private boarding, transportation and more. Plans to expand throughout the entire state of Florida within 12 months are underway, and when complete, will add approximately 45 jobs.

“The timing was right for this acquisition and I have long been intrigued by technology-based businesses,” says Wohlstein, who traveled abroad frequently during the last four years. “Dogs Go Walking is the largest dog walking / pet sitting service company in South Florida and we intend to continue to offer our customer base the best service possible.” A long-time dog lover, Wohlstein is the proud owner of a Yorkie named Pipi. He also founded and manages the long-time Miami Beach live music venue Jazid and runs the Legal Translation Group.

Dogs Go Walking isn’t just for dogs, however. The company’s carefully-vetted and contracted pet specialists also watch over and care for cats, lizards, rabbits, turtles and just about any other domesticated small animal, in addition to larger pets such as horses. They come to your pet at your home, pick them up and transport them to and from wherever needed, take them to pet-friendly parks or beaches and even clean up after them. Dog training services are also available.

The company is always looking for new contracted sitters – an online application is available here. Dogs Go Walking’s website hosts a fair amount of client testimonials, many of them superlative, using complements such as “conscientious”, “caring”, “reliable” and “outstanding.” Advanced GPS integration is also in the works, allowing pet owners can track their furry and scaly friends while away from them.

Beginning in October, 5% of the company’s net earnings will be donated to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. For more information, please visit www.DogsGoWalking.com, email info@dogsgowalking.com or call 305.877.4061.
