FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
All-day celebration of the music of the Grateful Dead and its legendary leader to feature six acts
Jupiter, FL – June 26, 2019
– In what
has become a popular, annual tradition for Roots Music, Inc. and Guanabanas
Island Restaurant & Bar (960 North Highway A1A
Jupiter, FL 33477), the Jerry Garcia Birthday Bash will take place on
Sunday, July 28, 2019. Beginning promptly at noon, the event features six
incredible bands all celebrating the life and musical spirit of The Grateful
Dead leader and his music. This year’s event is being sponsored by Cigar City Brewing Company.
It is free and open to the public.
“We are incredibly excited to
once again be hosting our Jerry Garcia Bash,” says Guanabanas talent buyer Matt Cahur. “While not all bands on the line up are Jerry or Dead tribute bands,
expect everyone to celebrate the music of the era and embellish upon the music
that Jerry brought to the table over the years.” There will also be vendors
selling jewelry, accessories and Dead merch.
Unlimited Devotion was
conceived in Miami on 2012, and is now dually based in the Tampa / St. Petersburg
area and the Magic City. UD has played in all three of the previous Guanabanas
Jerry tributes and are a very popular throughout the U.S. and especially South
Florida. They are not a traditional Grateful Dead tribute band, as they don’t
emulate the band’s song book. More so, they interpret it, expressing themselves
through improvisation. More info: www.UnlimitedDevotion.com.
Guavatron
is one part fruit, one
part band, and one part transforming mechanized battle robot from another
planet. Based in West Palm Beach, they place an emphasis on improvisation, creating
a fresh sound at every show while keeping their roots of dance, rock,
electronica, and funk involved. They also are veterans of each of Guanabanas’
Jerry fests. More information about them is available at Guavatron.com.
Spiral
Light hails from Delray
Beach and features the virtuoso guitar playing of Joni Bottari (formerly of Girl
Jerry). A Dead tribute band, they played last year’s Jerry Bash, which
served as their Guanabanas debut as well. Their band name comes from the Dead
song “Terrapin Station”; they are also influenced by Pink Floyd and Bob Dylan. The
quartet often performs throughout Palm Beach and Martin counties, and is
available for private parties and events. More information: www.facebook.com/SpiralLightBand.
CBDB is a progressive rock, jam-band from Alabama and
their music is spreading from the Southeast across the nation like wildfire.
Defining a newfound southern blend of joyous and progressive rock ‘n roll, they
channel a sonic mix of soulful vocals and virtuosic musicianship with smart,
tasteful songwriting. They have just released their third full-length album
called Out of Line, which was recorded at Zac Brown’s legendary Southern Ground Nashville studio. cbdbmusic.com
The Heavy Pets are a funked up rock and roll band
from South Florida who are returning to the Jerry Bash after headlining the 2nd
annual affair in 2017. Relix Magazine has called them “a
living, breathing force of nature”, and they embody this musically by
constantly touring the State of Florida and the United States. Previously, they
played an all-Dead set they call “Heavy Dead”, and it remains to be seen what
they have in store this year. www.TheHeavyPets.com
Formed in 2018 in South Florida, TAND means well-sunned skin and musically represents a fusion of
rock, funk and soul. Formed from the ashes of several groups and fused by a
mutual love for a dearly departed bandmate (Tripp Gray from Sawgrass Express), the band’s number one priority is for the listener to
enjoy their funky-spirited, high-energy, improvisational, dancing rock and roll
with heart and soul. Learn more at Tand.Band.
