10th Annual Everglades Awareness Concert is 11/4 at Gramps

10th Annual Everglades Awareness Concert Scheduled for November 4 at Gramps in Wynwood

Activism and entertainment at the forefront of event hosted by Love the Everglades Movement and Ploppy Palace Productions

Miami, FL – October 10, 2017 – One of South Florida’s longest-running concert series, the annual Everglades Awareness Concert, returns to Gramps in Wynwood Saturday, November 4, 2017, beginning at 2 p.m.  It will feature live music, speakers, spoken word performances, live and digital art, and more through 3 a.m. the following day. The all-ages event is free for children under 12 and $10 for those 12 and over.

“This is a celebration for the Everglades that features a diverse mix of music, spoken word, dance, live art, community speakers and lots of creative interaction,” says concert organizer and community activist Flash. “We are coming together to support the Everglades because we need to protect our water supply and our ecosystem, so this is a party and a call-to-action for the Everglades. Our goal is to inspire people to appreciate the vitality of the Everglades and recognize that individuals can make a difference.”

Guest speakers will include: Houston Cypress from Love the EvergladesMovementLaura Reynolds (Conservation Concepts); Dara Schoenwald and David Doebler from VolunteerCleanup.orgSam Van Leer (Urban Paradise Guild), Progress For All’s Tim Canova, who is running for the U.S. House of Representatives in Florida’s 23 Congressional District, Matthew Schwartz from South Florida Wildlands Association, along with other representatives from community organizations and concerned citizens to be announced.

There will be dance and performances by Elviza’s Rockabelly Hippies featuringElvizaSymphony & Sofia Luna plus Melody Gedeon, and more. Additionally, Anibal Fernandez and Linx will be painting live, and a digital art show highlighting more than 40 artists will run on a continuous loop. Information booths from Love the Everglades Movement, VolunteerCleanup.org and other organizations will be present.

Vendors and small businesses including The Wallflower GalleryProgressiveRags, and others will be promoting and selling their merchandise. Also, more activities for kids are being developed. For the first time this year, the concert is being sponsored by the MiamiDade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the MiamiDade County Mayor and Board ofCounty Commissioners.
