Jim Camacho Celebrates New Single, Opens for Denny Laine at the Culture Room March 10

Miami, FL – February 24, 2016 – Prolific Miami singer-songwriter Jim Camacho will be celebrating the release of his latest single and video “Make It to the Morning Light”, as well as opening for the legendary Denny Laine(Moody Blues, Paul McCartney and Wings) on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the Culture Room (3045 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33306), beginning at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $20 and the show is open to all ages. Tickets are available online by clicking here: bit.ly/JCMDennytix. For more information, visit www.JimCamacho.com or call 954.564.1074.

The evening will serve as a celebration of the release of Jim’s new song “Make it to the Morning Light”, a catchy life-affirming, world music-tinged number inspired by the artist’s recent trip to South Africa. The video was produced and edited by frequent collaborator Juan Davila from 2Way Creative, who also shot and edited Jim’s clip for NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Contest, an acoustic version of “Big Little World”, which is similarly positive and uplifting.

Camacho’s band, featuring Jordan Welch on drums, Fritz Dorigo andFernando Perdomo on guitar, plus Jim on bass, keys and acoustic guitar, will also include Steph Taylor on keys, acoustic guitar and background vocals andMichael Mut on bass. The group will play the new song – in addition to having it screened at the performance – as well as cuts from Jim’s solo period, his time with The Goods, the band he co-founded and led in the 1990s, and some other surprises.

Along with Paul & Linda McCartney, Laine co-founded Wings, which was one of the most internationally successful bands of the 1970s. The band had 24 hit singles at the top of the charts and won a Grammy for their landmark album “Band on the Run.” Denny co-wrote the world wide hit “Mull of Kintyre” with Paul and in 1977 it became the biggest selling single of all time in the United Kingdom. It ironically broke the sales record for the previous biggest UK single; The Beatles’ “She Loves You”.

Denny, an original member of the Moody Blues, sang the band’s first major hit single “Go Now” in 1964. After a few years, he left the Moody Blues to pursue his solo career managed by the Beatles’ manager Brian Epstein. After Wings, Denny has continued to have a successful touring and recording career to this day and his passion for music and his love and appreciation of his fans can be seen at every one of his shows.

Laine’s very special, one-night only performance will feature hits from his time in Wings and the Moody Blues, as well as songs from his impressive solo catalog. For more information about Laine, visit www.DennyLaine.com. For more about Camacho, navigate to www.JimCamacho.com.

Miami native Jim Camacho co-founded and led the standout group The Goods, which was active during the 1990s, worked with legendary producer Tom Dowd, won the prestigious “Album of the Year” Florida Jammy award and topped the Billboard Florida Radio & Record charts with their single “I’m Not Average”. Their high-energy live show, outstanding musicianship and relentless touring led them to sign a recording contract with Polygram Records and be featured in a VH1 documentary. The Goods shared the stage with Pearl JamThe SmithereensCracker and Matthew Sweet, among others.

His solo career has seen him release five collections of songs, including Stalker Songs, which earned a Gold Remi award in the Music Video category at the 40th Annual WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival for the song titled “Houdini.” His material garnered “Best Acoustic Performer” (2005) and “Best Album” (2009 for Beachfront Defeat) honors from the Miami New Times. The Broward Palm Beach New Times called Everywhere one of the top albums of 2013. He’s toured with JohnLegend and Linda Perhacs.

Last year, Jim released two singles: “Ophelia” in February and “Please Come Home” in July. In 2016, he will issue “Make It to the Morning Light” in March and a virtual split 7” single with singer / songwriter Rob Elba (Holy Terrors /Shark Valley Sisters); more singles are in the works, as is a return visit to the UK.

Camacho has also become prolific at writing musicals and scoring children’s theater productions. His initial foray into the realm began with Fools’ Paradise, which was directed and choreographed by the acclaimed Jonathan CerulloThe show ran as a full production in Miami and played to sold out workshops in New York. Next, he co-wrote and scored Guru, which premiered in  Miami, scored Mickey Herman Saves the $#&@ World, which premiered at the Adrienne Arsht Center, wrote the book and music for The Cavie Islanders and the Troll and The Guru of Gir.

He has collaborated with Sesame Street and Disney veteran Noel MacNeal on Who Put the Trick in Trick or Treat: Tales of Amazing TrickstersBeasts of the Magical World, and The Carnival of Extraordinary Animals – all of which enjoyed runs during the “Boo at the Zoo” at the Bronx Zoo 2012-2014. In 2015, Camacho premiered Digging for Bones, a musical about a group of time-travelling paleontologists and a friendly T-Rex dinosaur skeleton, and enjoyed a third successful run of a collaboration with MacNeal, Mouse King, which has become a new South Florida holiday tradition, enjoying multiple sell out performances.
