Little Havana Hotspot Celebrates 81 Years with Three Day Music Festival Featuring Over 100 Musicians


Miami, FL  — August 2, 2016 Ball & Chain, the notable and world famous live music venue is thrilled to present their second annual three-day music festival in honor of the venue’s 81st anniversary this Labor Day Weekend September 2016.  The historical Little Havana landmark originally opened its doors in September 1935 as a thriving live jazz music venue until it closed in the 1950s.  The retro Cuban speakeasy on Calle Ocho was reopened in September 2014 with an authentic Cuban flare meticulously redecorated in iconic 1950s Miami style under new ownership by Ben Bush, Zack Bush and Bill Fuller.


“We could not be more excited about the second Ball & Chain Music Festival. We are looking forward to presenting over 45 hours worth of live entertainment in one weekend,” says co-owner Zack Bush. “The lineup includes bands that comprise the rotation of acts that have performed here during the last year, plus a few specials guests and surprise performances.  We appreciate being able to host these wonderful musicians and we are proud to be one of the most prominent live music venues in South Florida”.


This is the second annual multi-day, music-driven event to celebrate the venue’s birthday.  The anticipated live performances will begin on Friday, September 2nd , and will go throughout the weekend until 3AM on Sunday featuring over 100 musicians and DJs.
“So much has happened during the last two years, it’s difficult to look back and pick out one outstanding moment,” offers co-owner Bill Fuller. “We’re very pleased that the locals and tourists alike have embraced Little Havana and Ball & Chain and thus created magic. We’re looking forward to another very exciting anniversary weekend.”


Featured bands and DJs include PALO!, Spam Allstars, Magic City Hippies, Electric Piquete, Tiempo Libre, The Politix, Lemon City Trio, Vlade Divak, Leslie Cartaya, BarrioActivo, Calle Sol, Lanzallamas, SonLokos, Pepe Montes & Conjunto, Elastic Bond, Nick Tannura Quartet, ArtOfficial, Tony Succar featuring Mixtura, Aaron Lebos, Gene Paul, Lucy Grau, DJ Le Spam (of Spam Allstars), DJ Danny Stern, DJ Dennis LaClave and DJ Kenyi.


A special music festival craft cocktail menu will be available as well as raffles and giveaways. This event is free and open to the public.





Ball & Chain is a historic and world famous live music venue located at 1513 Southwest 8th Street, Miami, FL 33135 in the center of Little Havana. The retro jazz bar on Calle Ocho was reborn in September 2014 reborn as a live music venue with an authentic Cuban flare and meticulously redecorated in iconic 1950s Miami style by new ownership Ben Bush, Zack Bush and Bill Fuller.   Before the area became a harbor for Cuban refugees, the bar “On the Trail” (Tamiami Trail) from the mid-1930s to late 1950s was a popular late-night stomping ground for many of the world’s most famous jazz musicians including Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Count Basie, and Chet Baker.


The revived entertainment venue aims to reclaim its reputation as a power player in Miami’s nightlife scene with a 3,000 square-foot interior and a 3,500 square-foot patio both outfitted for live music. The music scene at Ball & Chain infuses contemporary sounds with old school jazz and salsa. The venue features live music daily. The iconic bar features a top shelf and premium liquor bar, signature and special craft cocktails as well as a Cuban inspired tapas menu.  Ball & Chain is open from 12PM to 12AM from Monday through Wednesday, 12PM to 3AM Thursday, Friday, Saturday and 2PM to 10PM on Sunday’s.  Happy Hour is Monday through Sunday starting at 4PM to 7PM featuring two for one specialty cocktails.
